From the recording migration (hijra)
"Migration" is a song that was written on a stormy night in January 2024 and in my final month of wandering abroad, in the home of a dear new friend who recognized in me the weariness of someone on a deep journey. She comforted me with her insight, her dog’s company, and a safe environment in which to write. The song wrote itself in one reflective and emotionally stormy sitting. This is the first single off my EP, a way home, where each song is some kind of way back home to myself.

Lyrics
I'm a traveller wandering, wondering for a home
It's a temporary state, a moving stage through this norm
A fellow wanderer passes by and catches my eye and says hello
"Do you want to walk with me? Set your freedom free. I know this road"
Each day a bird sings a new song,
Before it flies away off on its own
Abandon all you've ever known, because all you know is to trust
Transition through security, find new community moral and just
Now's the time to open up, and to discern between what's right and what's not
In her searching for a sign, exhaling rhymes and words that are not my own
Emigrate from our own weakness
To a place where God intends to ease us
God intends to ease us…
These words are not my own
These words are not my own
These words are not my own
These words are not my own
Emigrate from our own weakness
To a place where God intends to ease us
Before we fly away off on our own
Off on our own
Off on our own
Off on our own
