“When you listen, you learn. Remember that. In music and in life” - Mitch Albom, The Magic Strings of Frankie Presto
Peaceful greetings and thanks for checking in.
I write from the red desert landscape of Yulara, NT, about 18 km from Uluru (central Australia), where I will reside for a November month-long performance residency. How did I get here? I wanted to get here so I sent out my request to the All-Hearing. Of course, it comes through in interesting ways. The short: a beautiful musical friend, Amber, got the offer to perform a month-long residency at the Outback Pioneer Hotel, I saw her FB post and thought, "that would be cool". Not too long after, she sent me a message.
Here we are.
I'm here to find out what this yearning is about. It will no doubt come through the songs and stories constantly being weaved.
Work on the album, Dwij, is set aside to simmer as I am here to be present and explore this chapter. After the first six nights of performances, I am just starting to settle in, using my day off to reflect. A few songs have come through my journaling.
It's about the journey.
In the meantime, I share with you a 9-track rehearsal set for the recent Island Vibe '22 performance (if you want to get a taste or like what you heard) available on SoundCloud.
Gratitude for the gifts in everyone and everything.
Peace, wherever and however you may be,
